Member Corner

Join Today!

Dear Current and Future Members,

This section of our web site is dedicated to YOU, as a current or future member!

There is now an area where we can post photos and updates on the things that are HOT for us here at IVCJ! From our Second Fridays at The Grape to the Newest Events for our Members and Friends, the Member Corner is just for you!

When you involve yourselves with our visitors, promoting multicultural awareness and understanding between people of foreign countries and the US, you help to support our goals, as well as those of the US State Department through its International Visitor Leadership Program and the National Council for International Visitors.

You can write to Andrea Hartley, our Assistant Director, at andrea.hartley@ivcjax.com with any questions, suggestions, and/or ideas you may have regarding this page’s content, or ways to interact with new members, or anything that comes to mind.  This is your page, so tell us what you want!

We look forward to hearing from you!

Always At Your Service,

Citizen Diplomacy Volunteer Orientation

Are you interested in volunteering to escort or host International Visitors but not quite sure what it involves or how to act?

Here’s your chance to find out!

Serious song

Our informal small group sessions are designed to help our volunteers feel at ease with International Visitors during their time here in Jacksonville.

If you missed a previous session, be sure to sign up for the next one! In a relaxed atmosphere, you will be able to discuss with IVCJ “old hands” what to do and say, how to avoid embarrassing situations, how to cope with crises that might arise, and why being a Citizen Diplomat is one of the most rewarding ways that you can serve your country.

For Questions about the Next Session E-mail andrea.hartley@ivcjax.com!

What’s New

NCIV International Photography Contest

NCIV Photo Contest Third Place

As one NCIV member from the Northern Nevada International Center expressed it, “Pictures can convey the essence of citizen diplomacy more than words ever could.” Every year the National Council for International Visitors has an International Photography Contest. They select the winner at their annual conference in February and hand out cash prizes, and of course, invaluable bragging rights! From hi-tech digital photos to trusty basic snapshots, we need your submissions! All NCIV members and volunteers may participate.  The contest will select the best of the best among photos featuring participants of the International Visitor Leadership Program encountering American people and culture.

So, keep your cameras ready every time you meet with our International Visitors, and maybe next year you’ll snag first prize at the NCIV International Photography contest.
