Volunteer
"Being a volunteer is more than meeting interesting and influential people. It is an opportunity to influence tomorrow's leaders today. Being a volunteer in the International Visitor Program gives you the chance to change history makers." Henry E. Catto, Former Ambassador & Director of USIA
IVCJ relies on volunteers to accomplish its goals. Time commitments depend on what you can manage—whether occasionally or regulary—an hour, an afternoon or evening, or an entire day.
As an IVCJ volunteer, you can:
- Serve as a professional resource, meeting with leaders from other countries in your professional field, exchanging ideas and methods, and making valuable connections
- Serve as a home host for a meal, an event, or an overnight stay
- Serve as a cultural tour guide helping visitors explore your community and its surroundings
- Serve as a volunteer programmer organizing the schedule of activities in your community for international visitors
- Serve as an office volunteer or handle essential administrative/management task
- Serve as a Board member after working with the organization in other capacities
- Serve as a supporter making your own financial contribution and enlisting the help of others who want to support expanded opportunities for citizen diplomacy
